10 Fashion Essentials I’ve Been Living In

I really don’t have a super diverse wardrobe… I rely on a lot of the same pieces in a given year and reach for my favorites over and over again when getting dressed… whether it’s for the office or a work-from-home day, lazy Saturday at home, or going to a more formal gathering.

The following 10 pieces are part of my go-to essentials that I’ve found to be of a great quality and timeless design, and I highly recommend them all!

1. Suede knee-high boots

I have these in black suede and know a lot of you have already purchased them. Do you love them as much as I do?! So comfortable yet still look dressy even with the flat heel. And they instantly elevate any outfit. Even my go-to jeans and sweater! I just add a bright lip and I instantly looked like I kind of tried. And that’s good enough for me!

2. White silk blouse

I have worn this classic silk blouse to pretty much any event, photo shoot, or formal occasion since I got it in August.

3. Slouchy sweaters like this one!

People ask “what sweater I’m wearing” more than anything else except my eyeglasses and the suede boots I mentioned above. I always go slouchy and comfy… for my own comfort but also so they work as long as possible with my growing tum. They’re always very simple… typically in black, cream, or grey. Exciting, I know! But they work and I can wear them on repeat with no one noticing.

I know a lot of you like shopping at Nordstrom so I am linking to a bunch of great options under $90 (a lot under $50!) here: this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this with a bow back like the $300 Club Monaco style!

4. and 5. Dark wash skinny jeans or distressed black skinny jeans (currently replaced by maternity jeans)

If I am “dressing up” – i.e. leaving the house – these are what I have on. I usually wear these and these but now have these and these for maternity. I realize these are costly, but I don’t own 10+ pairs of jeans. I literally own these and wear them daily if I don’t have on leggings or flannel pajamas.

6. Black leggings

When I don’t have jeans on, I live in my favorite black leggings… paired with a giant sweater and slippers and I am gooood, people. My go-to is the ankle-zip which is now sold out but I love Lou & Grey’s shown above! But my tum is now making the waistline fold over when I sit so I’m looking into a maternity pair. Everyone seems to recommend Blanqi but I haven’t gotten a pair yet.

7. Wool wrap coat

I bought mine from Everlane two winters ago and have gotten so much use out of it! Works for all occasions, and it sounds silly but the wrap makes it so easy to throw on before running out the door. When the weather permits, I leave it open for a more slouchy, chic look!

8. Velvet loafers

Again, when weather permits, I rely on these velvet beauties. Comfortable and stylish! I used to own leopard calf hair loafers and wore those to death over the course of five years (they finally wore out!), so I suspect these are the new those for me!

9. Fleece popover

Ok I actually just got this but know I will be living in it as soon as it gets here. I’ve seen these become more and more popular over fall and now see them popping up in every store for winter/spring. I just got the blush one, but I absolutely love the cream and green option also!

10.  Chic eyeglasses

I rotate between three pairs of glasses: a rose gold metal frame, an old school bronze metal frame, and a tortoise.

I’ve also had a lot of people ask about my winter coat! It’s this style from Fjallraven and is the warmest thing I’ve ever put on. Highly recommend! And I use these classic Sorel boots come winter. Super warm and never slip on the ice!
