My New Desk

As you know, we eliminated our home office to make it a nursery (keeping the guest room in tact for ohhh ya know… visiting grandparents who might want to stay over from time to time and our out-of-town siblings and friends).

But Dan works from home and I frequently do as well. Most of the time, we work sitting at our oversized dining table but one of us will always go upstairs to take calls or meetings. Plus I just like having a desk.

Fortunately, we weren’t really making use of this giant area in our master bedroom where the bay windows are… we had a lounge chair and table there but they literally never got used aside from holding unfolded laundry.

I knew it was the perfect spot for a grand writing desk – a la Erica Barry’s desk in Something’s Gotta Give.

So I began the online hunt. Things were either too big or not quite right.

Then I found the perfect neoclassical style a la Ave Home when Lark and Linen revealed her office tour – and it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s called the Colette Desk and it’s part of their raw collection.

I knew it was the perfect design and size for the space.

And the raw wood is just too good…

It will be perfect for work during those early months with Baby S in the bassinet! And I love having the window view and fresh air flowing in come summer!

As for styling, I actually love how this chair works with it but I’m thinking it needs a different lamp… something a bit more robust. I would use our white gourd lamp up here but I love how that looks in the living room. Tricky…
