Our Master Bedroom in the New Place

I really really loved the decor of our bedroom in this home – but we have four big differences in our new bedroom that have allowed me to mix it up a bit…

  1. Vaulted ceiling calls for more dramatic lighting
  2. A lot less natural light compared to our current place which means lighting is super important
  3. Even though the room as a whole is smaller than our current one, it fits a king-sized bed, which this one did not!
  4. I’ve loved having the frames above our headboard but because we have the wall trimmed out with woodwork, I don’t think anything will be above the bed

For point number one, the lighting, I am excited to say I went with something a bit unexpected…! I chose a large cone pendant from Visual Comfort Lighting – something you’d more often see above a kitchen island or dining table! But I love it. I found it on discount from eBay’s end of season sale – which ends August 27! I hadn’t realized how expansive their home decor and outdoor/garden collection was.

This particular fixture, the Thomas O’Brien Goodman Pendant, for example, was labeled “Open Box” which means it had been used in store on display, but was in like new condition and just repackaged. It’s original value was $823.50 and I ended up paying a bit over $300! There is another available here. So really – if you’re remodeling or decorating, I highly consider checking out options on eBay!

I really love how oversized and dramatic it is! Helps fill the space of the vaulted ceiling! We’re sticking with really light, relaxing colors in here, so I love the simplicity of the design but grandness of size.

My best advice is to search for brands or styles you love, search “open box,” and sort through finishes! Helps make narrowing down options much easier.

A few other lighting options I found that I love:
